Larry Rice had just passed away, and Tony was gone, so Pete Rowan asked me to join him and his able crew, Sharon Gilchrist and Bryn Bright. Pete is a sometimes-mystical energy source, and knows how to weave magic! Thanks to Ellen for the photo.

July, 2006: Boulder, Colorado
Earl Scruggs came to town, and Hot Rize was honored to share the bill with him at Boulder's Chautauqua Auditorium. Joan and I were personally honored that Earl paid us a visit at our home. Earl's music has undoubtedly changed my life.
August 2006: Beverly Hills, CA
In August, I went out to Steve Martin’s house for a small banjo camp, and got to jam with some Beverly Hillsbillies. That’s Steve on banjo and Martin Mull on guitar, pickin’ it solid. Photos by Sandee.

September 2006: IBMA - Nashville, TN
September, 2006 Flexigrass vibesmeister Greg Harris accompanied me to IBMA’s World of Bluegras, the first “flexigrass” appearance ever at IBMA. We did some showcases and some jamming, and were joined by Mike Bub and our Flexigrass buddy Bill Pontarelli on clarinet. Our highlight was performing at the Awards Nominees reception on Awards night. There we were joined by Don Rigsby and Larry Atamanuik. This same combo then got asked to play the Awards reception for BMI in Nashville in November!
November 2006: St. Louis, MO
November, 2006 Last road gig, the Focal Point in St. Louis. We had a good time at this enduring folk coffeehouse.
December 2006: Boulder, CO
December, 2006 Back in Colorado, playing the Mark Vann Foundation Benefit in Boulder, with Jeff Austin and other local pickers.
