Basic Skills · January 6-11, 2014
A friendly, "safe" situation for inexperienced and closet players.
  • Creating basic solos, worked-out and improvised
  • Lots of jamming, everyone participating at their own level, including total novices!
  • Backup pointers and jamming etiquette
  • How to beat timing problems
  • Practicing tips and standard licks
Class limit: 25
Tuition: $125 deposit payable to Dr. Banjo. $225 due at start of camp.
Early discounts: full tuition $340 or deposit $120 if received by Oct. 15, 2013.
All but $65 of payment refundable until Nov. 24, 2013.
Intermediate · January 13-18, 2014
For pickers who can create and play a basic solo, and have jamming experience.
  • Good timing and tone
  • Creating "believable" solos, improvising
  • Practicing for maximum progress
  • Clearing technical hurdles, gaining speed
  • Knowing the neck, favorite licks
  • Backup approaches and techniques
Class limit: 25
Tuition: $125 deposit payable to Dr. Banjo. $225 due at start of camp (includes individual evaluation).

Advanced · January 20-25, 2014
Tailored those who have played in performing bands.
  • "The pro sound": Timing, tone, "believability"
  • Creating interesting solos, tunes, individual style, gaining speed
  • Practicing to clear technical hurdles
  • Bringing out the best in each song, backup and lead
  • Knowing the neck, creating licks
  • All campers will receive a 1-on-1 session with Pete
  • Performance skills — sounding your best on stage
  • Week includes a class performance with Pete
